From January-July 2016, Freedom Tree has developed a 10-week curriculum to address some of the direct issues linked to infant and maternal mortality in Sierra Leone. The curriculum is asset-based, locally sustainable, and created for village life. During the recent trip from April-June 2016, a team of three Freedom Tree members practiced implementation of the lessons in various villages as well as hosted a training for locals that Freedom Tree has partnered with. The project is currently in a pilot phase, with hopes to distribute the program throughout the country by November 2017. The curriculum touches on a wide range of topics, all of which contribute to healthy births in the context of a situation without medical facilities.
