Why We Do What We Do
Sierra Leone faces some of the world’s highest rates of maternal mortality and lowest literacy rates. For many women and children, lack of access to healthcare, education, and economic opportunities limits their potential and holds entire communities back. At Freedom Tree, we’re committed to breaking these cycles and planting seeds of transformation.
Here’s how we’re making an impact:
• Education: By building schools and providing scholarships, we’re opening doors for children, especially girls, to dream, learn, and succeed. Education is a powerful tool for breaking poverty and fostering healthier, more empowered communities.
• Healthcare: Our programs provide prenatal and postnatal care, maternal health education, and life-saving support to women, ensuring safer pregnancies and births.
• Empowering Women: Through leadership initiatives and economic opportunities, we’re lifting up women and addressing gender inequalities head-on.
The Power of Transformation
Last year, we began constructing the Bhlama school—a symbol of hope for an entire generation. This year, we’re determined to complete the project and ensure every child in the community has access to quality education.
Through programs like our prenatal “Curriculum”, we’re seeing entire villages transform. Men and women come together to learn about health, family dynamics, and breaking cultural taboos. The results? Healthier families, stronger relationships, and empowered communities.
