Have you read the book 'Love in the Time of Cholera'? It is a great story - one about love that triumphs in the midst of impossible odds and dire circumstances.
2020 has been an interesting year, to say the least, one that will forever shape history and our experiences. For us, as an organization, we were thrown some curveballs that meant we had to find a way to continue with our mission despite the seemingly increasing barriers we faced.
One of the ways we did that was by spreading love and joy to the communities around us. We partnered with The Lion Heart Foundation to provide mental health therapy for youth in the city of Calgary.
Freedom Tree also packaged and handed out 400 hampers to vulnerable youth to spread some joy. The impact of the lockdown, unfortunately, increased incidences of mental health crises and domestic violence, and one of the ways we could mitigate that was to support youth with resources and connections.
Enjoy the brief video we made to capture the project, and in the meantime - regardless of what you may be going through, I'd encourage you to 'Spread some love during the time of COVID". Love always triumphs.
